Naples Florida Fishing

Naples offers excellent backwater fishing and nearshore ocean sport fishing. Since it was first settled, gulf sport charter fishing, hunting, charter boating, sun bathing, and beach combing have attracted tourists, retirees and fishing enthusiasts from all over the world.

At one time, the only people to walk the beautiful white beaches of Naples were the Caloosa Indians. During the mid 1800's, though, settlers began to arrive. Soon thereafter, major improvements took place and by the late 1800's the settlers had created piers that provided Naples greater access to some of the most abundant fishing ever witnessed along the southern coast of Florida.

As you can imagine, Naples quickly gained a reputation as a warm and relaxing resort destination during Winter months. So, people began to come from all over the world to enjoy the climate, scenery and sport fishing.

Due to the development of the Tamiami Trail in 1923, the citizens of Naples could travel quickly to the two largest cities in Florida, Tampa and Miami.
